Hi. I’m Phil, and my path to becoming a counsellor has been shaped by both my professional experience and personal journey. Before training as a therapist, I worked as a graphic designer, but I always had the idea of moving into counselling in the back of my mind.
It was my own life experiences that eventually inspired me to pursue counselling as a profession. Like many counsellors, my desire to help others has been informed by personal challenges I've faced. Through my personal experiences with counselling, I've gained firsthand appreciation for how therapy can make a difference when facing life's challenges.
During my counselling training, I gained valuable experience through diverse placements working with people recovering from domestic abuse, supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and providing community counselling in Exmouth. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to creating a safe, non-judgemental space for all clients, regardless of their background or circumstances.
What drives my practice is a fundamental belief in the human capacity for growth and healing. I've witnessed this remarkable potential both in my own journey and in the clients I've had the privilege to work with. No matter what brings you to counselling, I believe that with the right support, you can discover new perspectives, develop healthier patterns, and move forward with greater self-understanding and strength.
As an accredited counsellor, I engage in regular professional supervision and ongoing continuing professional development (CPD), while adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework.
